Synthesis of the case study

Europe has initiated a collaborative project with the aim to develop and expand monitoring and surveillance of health-enhancing physical activity (HEPA) in the 28 EU Member States of the WHO European Region. It was developed as a part of a joint initiative between the European Commission (EC) and WHO Regional Office for Europe. While the individual country fact sheets are issued separately, this short publication gives an overview of the monitoring and surveillance of physical (in)activity of adults, adolescents and children in EU Member States. Used methodology and the data sources are also described.
